A commercial RIB is a working boat first. Tornado commercial RIBs are built for dive support, crew and pilot transfer, survey, aquaculture and harbour work, where the boat goes out on a schedule rather than on a forecast, carries people and equipment, and comes alongside other vessels several times a day.
The construction answers that directly. The deep-V hull keeps impact controlled and behaviour predictable when the sea state is not a choice. Tubes are thermowelded polyurethane rather than glued, and anti-slip boarding panels run along the top of the tube where crew stand, board and work. Rubbing strakes and reinforcement are bonded over the tube, which is where contact with quaysides and other hulls actually happens.
Every commercial RIB is built to order in Peniche, Portugal. Console, seating, deck layout and equipment are specified for the job rather than chosen from a fixed list, and each model carries its own CE category and load figures.

What makes a RIB commercial
Commercial and leisure Tornados come from the same family of hulls. The difference is the work it is specified for: more hours at sea each year, a crew that stands and moves on deck, payload that changes from one trip to the next, and a tube that takes contact every day. That is why the first question on any Tornado build is whether the boat is for commercial or leisure use, and the answer changes the specification from there.
Choosing the size of a commercial RIB
The commercial range runs from the Super 7 to the 12m. The compact hulls suit dive support, harbour and inshore work with a small crew. The larger hulls carry more people and equipment further offshore and take twin outboard installations.
